Hasan has 18 3/4 yards of fabric. It takes 3 1/6 yards to make a pillowcase. Hasan plans to make as many pillow cases as he can. How many yards of fabric is left over?

I decided to simply both equations:
75/4 *3 225/12
19/6 *2 38/12
First is to find a common factor which is 12, multiply both sides.

divide 38/225 and you should get 5.92.

Hasan can make a total of 5 pillow cases.

Answer:

(35)/(38) yards of fabric is left over.

Explanation:

Hasan has the total length of fabric =
18(3)/(4) yards

=
(75)/(4) yards

Hasan plans to make as many pillow cases as he can.

To make one pillow case the fabric will be needed =
3(1)/(6) yards =
(19)/(6) yards

Hasan can make the total number of pillowcases =
((75)/(4) )/((19)/(6) )

=
(75)/(4) ×
(6)/(19)

=
(75)/(2) ×
(3)/(19)

=
(225)/(38)

=
5(35)/(38)

He can make 5 pillow cases and
(35)/(38) yards of fabric would be left over.
