2.8y + 6 + 0.2y = 5y - 4

3y + 6 = 5y - 4

6 = 2y -4

10 = 2y

5 = y

2y is the answer. combine like terms = 3y+6-5Y-4 subtract y from each side, add 4 to each side then divide
