What would happen to the proton gradient and atp production after a drug has poisoned the enzyme that combines acetyl coa and oxaloacetate to form citrate? see section 9.5 ( page 201) ?

If the enzyme that catalyzes the formation of citrate is hindered, the production of NADH will be reduced and this will lead to a weaker proton gradient. A weaker proton gradient in turn will result in reduced production of ATP.
