The average of the certain set of data can be calculated by dividing the sum of the given numbers/data by their count.

(a) In this item, we are given with: -0.05, 0.09, -0.04, -0.08

Their sum is as follows:
S = (-0.0.5) + (0.09) + (-0.04) + (-0.08)
S = -0.08

Then, divide the sum by 4.
M = -0.08 / 4 = -0.02

b. The answer to this question can be calculated through the equation below,
M₂ = (S + F) / 5

Substituting the known values,
-0.01 = (-0.08 + F) / 5
the value of F is equal to 0.03.
