Answer:

x = 12

Explanation:

(10x - 20) + (6x + 8) = 180

= 10x - 20 + 6x + 8 = 180

= 10x + 6x - 20 + 8 = 180

= 16x - 12 = 180

= 16x = 180 + 12

16x = 192

x = 192 / 16

x = 12

(10(12) - 20) + (6(12) + 8) = 180

100 + 80 = 180

180 = 180

since they are on a straight line, we know that (10x-20)+ (6x+8)=180
if we simplify the equation, we get 16x-12=180
then we can take the 12 to the other side by adding
16x= 192
and then we can remove the 16 by dividing
x= 12
