so it says what equation would you set up to solve for x so I just have to figure out which one of the listed equations is the correct equation to use it doesn't say anything about having to solve so I only have to just find the equation

In a triangle, the line joining the midpoints of two sides is parallel to the third side and equal to half its length

From the given figure we can see triangle VUW

Since Y is the midpoint of VW

Since Z is the midpoint of VU

Then by using the rule up, ZY joining the midpoints of VW and VU

Since UW is the third side in the triangle, then

ZY=(1)/(2)UW

Since ZY = (x + 20)

Since UW = (x + 28), then

(x+20)=(1)/(2)(x+28)

Multiply both sides by 2

\begin{gathered} 2*(x+20)=2*(1)/(2)(x+28) \\ 2(x+20)=(x+28) \end{gathered}

The equation is 2(x + 20) = (x + 28)

The answer is D
