If two lines are parallel, and they are cut by a transversal line, then some relations between angles arise:

In this diagram, angles with the same colors are congruent.

On the given diagram, notice that if AD was parallel to EG, then the angles CFG and FCB would be alternate interior angles, which means that they would be congruent.
