The volume of a rectangular prism is (base)(height).
Let the base be B and the height H.
Then V=BH.

If V=36 in^3 and H=6 in, then the area of the base B is V/H,
or
B = [36 in^3] / [6 in] = 6 in^2 (6 square inches)
