\bf \cfrac{milk}{day}\qquad \cfrac{1(3)/(4)}{4(1)/(2)}\implies \cfrac{(1\cdot 4+3)/(4)}{\frac{4\cdot 2+1}2}\implies \cfrac{\quad (7)/(4)\quad }{(9)/(2)}\implies \cfrac{7}{\underline{4}}\cdot \cfrac{\underline{2}}{9}\implies \cfrac{7}{2}\cdot \cfrac{1}{9}\implies \cfrac{7}{18}

which gives us a quotient of about 0.39 gallons of milk for one day.
