Sale price : $47.99

Discount = 20% = 20/100 = 0.2 (decimal form)

Apply the equation_:

original price (1 - percentage off ) = sale price

x (1-0.2 ) = 47.99

Solve for x (original price)

x 0.8 = 47.99

x = 47.99 / 0.8

x = 59.99
