let number of lions be l and number of birds be b.
l + b = 32
4l + 2b = 102....(1)
multiply first equation by 2
2l + 2b = 64.....(2)
Subtract (1) - (2)i is
2l = 38
l = 19
b = 32-19 = 13
There are 19 lions and 13 birds.
