Let x = Mrs. D's salary last year
13% = 13/100 = 0.13
6500 is 13 percent of Mrs. D's salary, so:
0.13(x) = 6500
0.13(x)/0.13 = 6500/0.13
x = 50,000
Mrs. D's salary last year was 50,000 dollars.
