y = a (x + 1)^2 where a is some constant

Substitute for the point (0.1):-

1 = a * 1^2

so a = 1

Answer is y = (x + 1)^2

y=(x+1)^2

Vertex form is the same as standard form or y=a(x-h)^2+k where h and k are the x and y values of the vertex. a stretches or compressed the graph. In this case, a = 1
