In an election with exactly 2 candidates, 373 votes were cast. If the winner's margin of victory was 87 votes, how many did she receive?

Let the number of votes the loser received be x,

number of votes the winner received = x + 87
total number of votes = 2x + 87
2x + 87 = 373
2x = 286
x = 143
number of votes the winner received = 143 + 87
= 230

She received 230 votes.
