1 question!

The focus of a parabola is (−5,−1) and the directrix is y=−3.

(x+5)^2=2(y+5)

(x+5)^2=8(y+5)

(x+5)^2=4(y+2)

this is a parabola which opens upwards

y - (-3) = sqrt ((y+1)^2 + (x + 5)^2

(y + 3)^2 = y^2 + 2y + 1 + (x + 5)^2
y^2 + 6y + 9 = y^2 + 2y + 1 + (x + 5)^2

(x + 5)^2 = 4y + 8

(x + 5)^2 = 4(y + 2)
