A jet fighter is coming in to land on an aircrft carrier, flying at a speed f 24 m/s . It comes to rest on the deck of the carrier in just 1.6 s. What was the acceleration the pilot felt during landing.

inital velocity of the jet (v) = 24 m/s

final velocity (u) = 0

time taken (t) = 1.6 s

acceleration(a) = (final velocity- inital velocity)/ time
= (0 - 24) /1.6
= -24/ 1.6
= -15

so,
the acceleration was - 15 m/s^2
