The animal organisms were able to adapt to seeing in the dark (because of no sunlight), and being able to travel and survive inside the dark (because then they would have died out). My hypothesis is that the unique types of fishes and insects were able to survive, because they adapted to the dark, was able to see, and were able to survive because of their adaptation
