Given

y = x + 3 y = 5x - 5

Procedure

\begin{gathered} y=x+3 \\ y=5x-5 \\ \\ x+3=5x-5 \\ 5x-x=5+3 \\ 4x=8 \\ x=(8)/(2) \\ x=4 \\ \end{gathered}

Now for y

\begin{gathered} y=x+3 \\ y=4+3 \\ y=7 \end{gathered}
