Which sentence is an example of faulty logic?

A) Requiring service hours would also be a good move for high school’s reputation among the community.
B) First of all, by requiring service hours, schools can break the bubble of unreality that often surrounds students in high school.
C) There are many good reasons for arguing that requiring service-hours from every American high school student is a good idea for the future.
D) Some selfish people don’t want this additional requirement simply because they don’t want people to help or serve other people!

I think D) Some selfish people don't want this additional requirement... is an example of a logical fallacy (faulty reasoning) being a bit of circular reasoning and somewhat of a non sequitur

Answer:

Letter D is the correct option.

Step-by-step explanation:

Faulty logic can be understood as a reason with imperfections and there are several types of it. Letter D can be explained as faulty logic because the first fact (people being selfish) is taken as the reason for not requiring service hours (selfish people don't want people to help other people). It could be understood as a false causality or an overgeneralization as long as the author does not present his information sources and the methodology used to express such a categoric answer. Also, this negative answer to the requirement may answer to more complex causes than just "selfish people".
