What value of x is in the solution set of 4x – 12 ≤ 16 + 8x?

Hello,

I usually find that when a sign is missing (like in your question), it's a plus, so I think your question could be about
4x – 12 ≤ 16+8x

but correct me if I'm wrong!

Then we add 12 to both sides:
4x – 12 +12≤ 16+8x+12
and we get

4x ≤ 28+8x

let's subtract 4x from both sides:

0 ≤ 28+4x
and "move x" to the left
-4x ≤ 28
divide by 4:
-x
≤ 28
multiply by -1 (we need to change the sign then because the number by which we multiply is negative)
x≥28

and this is the solution!

4x – 12 ≤ 16 + 8x
8x - 4x >= -12 - 16
4x >= -28
x >= -7
