What is one difference between a mixture and a compound? 1. a compound consists of more than one phase. 2. a mixture can only be separated into its components by chemical means. 3. a compound can only be separated into its components by chemical means. 4. a mixture must be uniform in composition?

Its 3, because you cant filter out or evaporate an element from a compound, for example water mixed with sand is a ''mixture and the sand can be filtered out, or water with dissolved sugar is also a 'mixture'  and the water can be evaporated.
