What happened to Blanche DuBois at the end of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams?

Blanche was taken to a mental institution. She was raped by her sister's husband, Stanley, a case of irony because the whole theme of the play is that Blanche is humanity and humanity is driven by desire. Her desire was her downfall. Her flirtatious attitude and delusional behavior led her to an undesirable outcome. Blanche kept at her delusional thinking all the way to the end. When she went out to see the doctor, she was confused as to why her "wealthy admirer" wasn't there to take her on a cruise. She legitimately believed her own lies. In the end, Blanche was taken away, probably never to see her sister or live a normal life ever again.
