The answer is: 31° .
________________________________

59 + 90 + x = 180

59 + 90 = 149 ;

x + 149 = 180 ;

Subtract 149 from each side of the equation:

x + 149 - 149 = 180 - 149 = 31 .

The answer is: 31° .

in a right triangle, the acute angles will add to 90 degrees

that is because one of the angles is 90 and the sum of all the angles is 180
so if x and y are the acute angles and z is the right angle then
x+y+z=180, subsitutuing 90 for z
x+y+90=180
minus 90
x+y=90

so if one is 59 degrees then
59+y=90
minus 59 from both sides
y=31

the other acute angle is 31 degrees
