In the rule of transformations, a translation is a shift of the function horizontally, or vertically.

If we have a point (x, y), we show a translation by writing:

(x,y)\rightarrow(x\pm a,y\pm b)

Where

a and b are numbers

Note: if we had (x, y) → (-x, -y), it would mean reflections, rather than translations!

From the choices, it is evident that the first choice shows a translation!

Answer:

A) (x,y) → (x + 3, y - 4)
