Locke believed that people are naturally reasonable, while Hobbes believed that people are naturally selfish.

John Locke believed humans are naturally reasonable and that we are born with natural rights whereas Hobbes believed humans are naturally selfish and violent and that life without government is nasty, brutish, and short.
