Explanation: It's an isle that previously was called San Luis, named this way by french explorers in 1686, but latter the isle was desabitated.

Around 1780 the troops of the Spanish governor of the Lussiana, Bernardo de Galvez ,later the Virrey of the new Spain, changed the name of the isle to the actual one, Galveston
