answer: $17.25
work:
17 x 0.25 = 4.25
4.25 + 13 = 17.25

So, we have to convert 17 quarters to dollars. We know .25 of a dollar is a quarter:
0.25 * 17 = 4.25
Now, lets add that to 13:
13 + 4.25 = $17.25
