Ellie bought 0.7kg of jelly beans from her local food festival for £1.89. She knows that to work out the price of a whole kilogram she simply needs to divide the price she paid by the quantity she bought. Work out the price of 1kg jelly beans

This problem is solved by cross multiplication. Make the ratios equal to each other: Kilograms over price and then cross mulitiply: 0.7 kg / $ 1.89= 1.0 kg / x Cross multiply and the result is 0.7x = 1.89 Divide 1.89 by 0.7 The result is $ 2.70 for 1 kilogram of jelly beans.
