A trick coin is made such that when it is tossed there is a 20% chance of heads landing face up and an 80% chance of tails landing face up. If the coin is tossed twice, what is the probability that the coin will land with heads facing up both times?

P( heads on one toss) = 0.20

P ( 2 heads) = 0.20 * 0.20 = 0.04 or 4%

Answer: 4 %

Explanation:

According to the question,

20% chance of heads landing face up

Therefore, probability of getting a head,
P(H) = (20)/(100) = (1)/(5)

The probability of getting tail,
P(T) = (80)/(100) = (4)/(5)

Thus, the probability that the coin will land with heads facing up both times

=
(1)/(5)* (1)/(5)

=
(1)/(25)

= 0.04 or 4 %

Thus the required probability is 4 %.
