compliment angles, sum = 90
lets angle : x
its complement: 90-x
x + 17x = 90
18x = 90
x = 5
90 - 5 = 85
answer
angle = 5
compliment = 85

Complementary means they add up to 90.
So:
x + 17x = 90
18x = 90
x = 5
