Most degrees are limited to 120 hours to save the state money. The state of Texas deems that 120 credit hours is enough time for students to engage in the courses needed to be considered for a degree. While taking additional classes provides students with additional opportunities to learn and advance in their career, state Universities may not accept more than 120 hours for financial reasons.
