first you need to work out the absolute value, |2x+1| becomes -2x -1
after that add one to both sides leaving you with: -2x=3x+4
then subtract -3x from both sides leave you with: -5x=4
lastly you divide by -5 on both sides leaving you with: x=-5/4 as your answer

2x+1=3x+4

Subtract 4

2x-3=3x

Subtract 2x

|-3|=-x

Divide by -1

|3|=x is your answer
