We are given the following problem

2.233*10^(-2)+3.2*10^(-3)

As you can see, the sum is given in scientific notation.

Recall that when the two numbers have the same exponents then we can simply add their coefficients.

Let us first convert one of the numbers such that both numbers have the same exponents.

3.2*10^(-3)=0.32*10^(-2)

Now both the numbers have the same exponent that is -2

2.233*10^(-2)+0.32*10^(-2)

Now simply add their coefficients and the exponent will remain the same.

(2.233+0.32)*10^(-2)=2.553*10^(-2)

Therefore, the correct answer (to 4 significant figures) is

2.553*10^(-2)
