x+7y=0 (a)
2x-8y=22 (b)

1st write te 2 equation in terms of x
(a) x+7y=0 , then x= -7y
(b) 2x-8y=22 → 2x = 22 + 8y and x = 22/2 +8y/2 OR x = 11 + 4y

x = 11+4y and x = -7y Then 11 + 4y = -7y
Now we can extract the value of y:

11+4y = -7y
1st Add +7y to each side →11+4y+7y = -7y + 7y

11+ 11y = 0 . Now subtract 11 from both sides :→11+11y -11 = 0-11
11y = -11 and y = - 1
To find the value of x, replace the value of y (= - 1) in any of the given equation and you will find x = 7

Does this helped you?
