How do I solve for x?-example-1

According to the same-side interior angle postulate, these two angles add up to 180. So:

x+96+x+96 = 180
2x + 192 = 180
2x = -12
x = -6

Do not be alarmed that x is negative. Just because x is negative does not mean that the angle is negative!

Hope this helps!

x + 96 = 90
x = 90 - 96
x = -6
