The tile back splash will be a mixture of colors of four-inch-square tiles. One third of the tiles will be "Sand," one fifth will be "Tuscan Blue," one fourth will be "Eucalyptus, " and the rest will be the color "Indian Red." What fraction of the tiles will be the color of "Indian Red"?

We have

1/3 Sand

1/5 Tuscan Blue

1/4 Eucalyptus

x Indian Red

The sum of all colors must be 1

1=(1)/(3)+(1)/(5)+(1)/(4)+x

we isolate the x, remember when we subtract fractions we need to have the same denominator

x=1-(1)/(3)-(1)/(5)-(1)/(4)=(60)/(60)-(20-12-15)/(60)=(13)/(60)

ANSWER

13/60 is the fraction of tiles "Indian Red"
