5x+1 \le 11

5x+1-1 \le 11-1 Subtract 1 from both sides

5x \le 10

(5x)/(5) \le (10)/(5) Divide both sides by 5 to isolate x

x \le 2

To graph this, draw out a number line. Plot a closed circle at 2 on the number line. The closed circle indicates we include this value in the solution set. This is the endpoint. We shade to the left of the endpoint to represent all of the values smaller than 2. The endpoint is included because of the "or equal to" portion of the inequality sign.
