Answer:

Between 1850 and 1900, life for Native Americans changed drastically. Through U.S. government policies, American Indians were forced from their homes as their native lands were parceled out. The Plains, which they had previously roamed alone, were now filled with white settlers.

In general the conditions became better because federal policies started focusing on integrating Native Americans into the American society and providing them with education and jobs. The around the middle of the century policies started getting focused on getting them into cities, and nowadays they are about preserving their culture and giving them forms of self-governance according to their customs.
