In the study of human physiology, it is important to understand osmosis because, the knowledge of how osmosis works enable us to understand how the cells in the body system response to changes in their internal environment. In the human system, water tends to move from the region of lower solute concentration to the region of higher solute concentration. An idea of how osmosis operate will enable one to understand the reasons for the changes that occur in the living cells in regards to water moving in and out of the cells.
