To what extent did daoists offer useful or practical political alternatives in the period of the warring states

Eventually, neither Confucian activism nor Daoist withdraw could tackle the issues that tormented China amid the Period of the Warring States. Request came back to China simply after the rise of a third school of believed that of the Legalists which advanced a useful and heartlessly effective way to deal with statecraft. Not at all like the Confucians, the Legalists did not worry about morals, profound quality, or legitimacy.
