You could model a strait road by using a segment addition postulate. For instance, if you are between point A and B you could calculate how much future you need to go by subtracting the length of the road by the distance you have traveled. Also, segment addition postulate can be used with City Water Lines or Sewer Lines. They can be used to calculate how much pipe is damaged and needs to be replaced.
