The perimeter of a rectangular field is 264 yards. If the width of the field is 54 yards, what is its length?

First, we must multiple the width by two. Then, we subtract the perimeter by that number. Next, we divide the number we have by two.

54 * 2 = 108
264 - 108 = 156
156 / 2 = 78

The perimeter is 78 yards.

P = 264
W = 54

264 = 2(L + 54)
264 = 2L + 108
264 - 108 = 2L
156 = 2L
156/2 = L
