By the end of the 1700s, a Spanish-like character was taking shape in Texas. This resulted from the colonization by the Spaniards in Texas and Mexico, giving rise to a unique mixed Latin identity, after Texas annexed to the United States it still maintained its unique Latino names and food culture.
