If the sonar total travel time is 5 second, then it must be travel down for 2.5 seconds then travel up for another 2.5 seconds. Then, to find the water depth, you need to multiply the sound speed with the duration. The calculation would be:

1507m/s * 2.5s= 3767.5 meter
