Central tendencies are important in psychology because they help to define a representation of what is being reasearch about. It might show what the majority tends to. They might serve to keep records of the data collected and conclude in tendencies the topic analysed.

.Central tendencies show where the scores in a data set tend to fall. They can tell us the average score (mean), the middle of the score range (median) and the most frequent score (mode).  These scores then in psychology help define a data set  like say how many people discriminate against people of other cultures, skin color etc as an example.or how many people give up their seat on the bus to someone who is physically frail like an elderly person, say.
