Finding the median

First rearrange the weights of the cat from lowest to highest. Rearranging the data we have

7, 9, 10, 16, 16

The median is the middle value of the data set when arranged in order, therefore the median weight of the cats is 10 pounds.

Finding the mean

The mean is determined by the formula

\begin{gathered} \overline{x}=(\sum x_i)/(n) \\ \text{where} \\ x_i\text{ are the data sets} \\ n\text{ is the number of data in the set} \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} \overline{x}=(\sum x_i)/(n) \\ \overline{x}=(16+9+7+10+16)/(5) \\ \overline{x}=(58)/(5) \\ \overline{x}=11.6 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the mean weight of the cats is 11.6 pounds.
