u wanna get the variables on one side and everything else on the other side.

9e + 4 = 14 + 8e ....we will subtract 8e from both sides
-8e - 8e
-----------------------
e + 4 = 14 ...now we subtract 4 from both sides
- 4 -4
--------------------
e = 10

and u can check ur answer by subbing it back into the original equation...
9e + 4 = 14 + 8e
9(10) + 4 = 14 + 8(10)
90 + 4 = 14 + 80
94 = 94 (correct)

so ur answer is : e = 10
