Why do smaller animals lose heat at a faster rate than larger animals

As animals grow larger , their volume and mass grows larger faster , the ratio of their surface area to volume reduces , this means the retain heat better.

They have a thinner layer of fat which acts as an insulator at keeping heat in. bigger animals stay warmer because they are physically more suited for colder weather.
