In order to find median, we will first arrange data in ascending order (i.e, from smallest to largest number ).

In ascending order, terms are as follows:

40, 42, 48, 55, 56, 57, 61, 64, 64, 65

Number of terms (n) = 10

Here, number of terms is even .

We know that if number of terms is even then median is calculated as follows:


(\left ( (n)/(2) \right )^(th)\,\,term+\left ( (n)/(2) +1\right )^(th)\,\,term)/(2)\\=(5^(th \,\,term)+6^(th \,\,term))/(2)\\=(56+57)/(2)\\=(113)/(2)\\=56.5
