When we put 8 in the bracket we can get the answer as 17 - 4x i.e Consider the LHS -2 ( 2x - 8) + 1 = -2 (2x-8) + 1 = -4x+16+1 = -4x + 17 = 17-4x = RHS LHS = RHS Proved
